Abstract: The aims of this study were to determine demographic data associated with parotid tumour in a local setting; to study the management and to discuss the complication of parotid surgery. We reviewed case records of 37 patients with parotid tumour who underwent parotid surgery in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre(UKMMC). Twenty-nine of these were benign while eight were malignant. Sensitivity and specificity of fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) for the malignant diseases were 62.5% and 100% respectively, whereas for benign diseases, sensitivity and specificity were 89.7% and 71.4% respectively. 37.8% had facial paresis, 10.8% had recurrent disease and 5.4% had Frey’s syndrome. There was one mortality in this cohort. Even though our cohort was small, the result of our study is comparable with other studies in the world literature.
