The Central Giant Cell Granuloma of the Jaws – An Enigma

MA Pogrel: The Central Giant Cell Granuloma of the Jaws – An Enigma. Mal. J. Oral Maxillofac. Surg. 2016; 14: 1–7.

Abstract: This article summarizes 30 years of clinical research on medical treatments for the central giant cell granuloma of the jaws. The treatment prescribed, and the results obtained are described for intralesional steroid injections, subcutaneous calcitonin injections, and denosumab given by subcutaneous injection. All treatments have the ability to cause reossification of central giant cell granulomas with a low incidence of recurrence, and may be the treatment of first choice for many patients.
